Pastor Matt Murphree - (435) 529-3940
Pastor Murphree grew up in Mountain View, Wyoming after his family followed the oil rigs fromj Texas to Wyoming in the late 70's. While there, his mother began taking the children to a little church called Grace Baptist Church, which was founded by Northwest Baptist Missions. As a 13 year old boy, Matt recognized his need for Jesus' forgiveness and trusted in the finished work of Christ on the cross and was saved from his sin. Upon High School graduation, Matt travelled to Greenville, South Carolina and attended Bob Jones University. The Lord allowed him to earn a Bachelors in General Studies and then on to earn a Masters in Biblical Counseling. He met his wife Karlene, who was teaching at Bob Jones Elementary, during his graduate studies and was married in June of 2002. Upon finishing his education, they moved to Wilmington, North Carolina where there served at Wilmington Christian Academy and Grace Baptist Church. After three years of teaching, the Lord moved them to Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, Florida where he initially served as the Assistant Dean of Men and Activities Director. He later became the Dean of Men and then the Dean of Students. The Lord began changing the direction of the Murphree Family during their final year at CCC. It became evident that the Lord would have them return to the Mountain West. He was ordained by his sending church, Berea Baptist Church in Palm Harbor, FL. Matt and Karlene met with and was approved to join Northwest Baptist Missions - the same mission board that started the church that Matt trusted Christ in. While serving an internship with NBM in the summer of 2011 at Faith Baptist Church in Salina, Utah, the Lord knit their hearts with the members of Faith and he was called to be the Pastor of Faith Baptist in October of 2011. The Murphree family continues to serve at Faith Baptist and loves ministering to their community. He participates in community events and serves on the local volunteer fire department. Karlene continues to serve as a beloved wife, mother, and home-school teacher, while also contributing much to the work at Faith Baptist. She loves spending time with her dear friends at the monthly book group and home-school activities. Matt, Karlene, and their children love living in the Mountain West and desire to serve their church and community in any way that the Lord would see fit.
